2016

The club played its first J2 season in 2016. Most of the team stayed the same, but the key player Genki Omae got injured soon after the start of the season, for several months. Striker Chong Tese did a marvellous job as he scored most of the team's goals. While the first half of the season was not really optimistic with the J1 promotion in mind, the second half has been incredible, as it ended with a 9 wins series and the direct promotion back in J1, at the last game ! The club finished second, one point behind J2 champions Consadole Sapporo.

The uniforms made by Puma for the 2016 season showed some continuity with the previous ones. For exemple, the thick stripe from the shoulders to the cuffs was still there. And while yellow wasn't the main shade anymore, the color still was very present on every part of the kit. Actually, the home shirt was nearly a inverted version of the 2015 shirt, with an orange background and a yellow planet. The globe design was more precise, more detailed and as usual, the other face was shown on the back. As for the away kit, Mount Fuji was still shown on the bottom back of the shirt, and the white-white-white combo was as classic as ever, with some touches of black and orange to complete a solid set. In july, the club introduced a third uniform, for the first time in S-Pulse history. It was a black version of the home one, with an orange world map and white name and numbers. A special event tag was added to the bottom left of the shirt, and the club's motto for 2016 - "Restart / No guts, no win" - was put on the back of the collar. That third uniform would be used for four games, and this special event would be called "S-Pulse Ultra de S Series".

TRIVIA

-New globe : The globe design shown on the home uniform is a new one, it's not a reused version from before. It's more detailed than the 2012 or the 2015 versions.

-No more Glico : The historical sponsor Glico, which was on the uniforms since the club's creation, disappeared from the players' backs in 2016, leaving the place for IAI. IAI was the stadium sponsor as well.

-Shimizu's location : Only continents' names appear on the globe design. Except for one location, which is... Shimizu, near the club's crest.

-Puma font : Puma usually designed a new font every two seasons, mainly to be used to show the players'names on the back, but not only : in 2016, the font was also used in the design of the uniform itself, for the continents'names.

-Black Power : The third shirt was produced in limited quantity, and was sold in several steps : first at the stadium for the game against Kumamoto, with a lottery system, and three days later by Soccer Shop Kamo. All the shirts were sold within half an hour.
