2017

The club is back in J1 for the 2017 season ! And while the first half of the season would not be so bad, the team started to lose a lot of games and to get draws when they could win, pushing the players and the supporters near the red zone. That would last until the very end of the season, when Shimizu would beat Kobe (3-1) away from the Nihondaira stadium, saving the J1 spot and sending Kofu to the second division. What a relief !

For the 25th anniversary, Puma impressed the fans by designing a set similar to the well known 1999 camo shirt, the one used when Shimizu S-Pulse was on top of Asia and nearly won the J.League championship. It sports a simple round collar and an orange and yellow camo pattern, on top of which the globe is added by transparence. The color blue is finally back and is used for the brand's logos and the continent names on the front face of the home shirt. On the away shirt, the globe isn't used, but mount Fuji is still showed on the bottom back, as usual. The camo pattern is also used, in different shades of grey, as it also was in 1999. The numbers are identical to their 92-04 counterparts, as they are considered as Shimizu S-Pulse classic numbers. Overall, the whole set is full of classic Shimizuness and was a big success even before the season started. Later, when summer arrived, for the S-Pulse Ultra de S Series, the players wore black uniforms in a similar way to what they did in 2016. Once again, it was a black counterpart of the home shirt, but this time, both the globe and mount Fuji were included on the shirt.

Counterfeit : Yes. All three shirts were copied. While the home and away versions were cheaply made, with standard fabric and a badly reproduced design, the black shirt was produced way later by counterfeiters, with a better accuracy. Only the material and the fact that the crest was less shiny than the original could tell that it was fake.

Differences between authentic and replica : On the shirts made for the players, the word "Authentic" could be found on the hologram, when there was nothing written on the replica shirts' hologram. That's the only difference.

TRIVIA

-Tribute to glory : The whole design is a huge tribute to the club's past and golden era : the camo design is from the 1999-2001 seasons, the numbers are the same as the ones used between 1992 and 2004, the color blue is back, the globe is still there with the continent's names and Pal-Chan shadow can be seen in the design.

-The arrow legacy : The design includes some dots pattern on the sleeves, leaving a space for the Puma logos. That space takes the shape of an arrow, similar to the ones that were used on S-Pulse shirts from the 90's - mid 2000's. It can be considered a part of the tribute, even if it's there for all the 2017 Puma shirts.

-Black Power : Once again, the club launched the "Ultra de S Series" event, by wearing a black shirt for several games. The black shirt could also be bought. The fan club members could buy it first, and what remained of the 1800 produced pieces could then be sold to the other supporters.
